Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and most essential branches of engineering, without which any industry cannot function. Right from the establishment of SRICT, Mechanical Department was started in 2011 with intake of 60 students at UG level and from 2015 department has started PG programme in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal Engineering with intake of 18 students. Department has 19 experienced faculty members, out of which many faculty members have their degree from IITs and NITs.

Over the years, Department has progress at rapid pace with development in both the spheres of infrastructure facility and academic programme. Faculty members of department are engaged in teaching, research and industrial consultancy works in the field of mechanical engineering. Department regularly conducts industrial trainings, expert lectures, seminars, workshops, technical competition for benefit of faculty as well as student community.

To play an active role in producing globally competent mechanical engineers to make technologically proficient, innovative, enthusiastic, future leaders and responsible citizen possessing human values to contribute significantly towards meeting global challenges.

Mission:
  • To provide sound basic knowledge of basic principles of engineering by imparting theoretical and practical understanding of various aspects of Mechanical Engineering.
  • To explore Institute–Industry linkage for fostering professional skill of students enabling them to become industry ready
  • To bring in good governance, transparent evaluation system and professional standards for ethical and human values in students.
  • To design and organise training programme to offer wide choice to industry and academia for their skills enhancement.
  • To promote faculty and staff members to become resourceful, innovative and through various development programmes.
  • To serve society through innovation and excellence.

Program Outcomes
  • Acquire knowledge in the discipline of mechanical engineering, apply fundamentals of mathematics, engineering and sciences to solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary areas.
  • Design & development of mechanical components, systems and processesto meet societal, environmental and global issues with the considerations of public health and safety.
  • Identify, formulate and solve engineering problems using modern mechanical approaches in terms of design,manufacturing, computational and software tools.
  • Apply ethical and professional principles and commit to responsibilities and standards of the engineering practice.
  • Communicate effectively in written, oral, graphical forms to present the results in a transparent manner.
  • Possess knowledge of Engineering and management principles to work effectively as a member or team leader in executing mechanical engineering projects under diverse and multidisciplinary environments.

Program Specific Outcomes
  • Graduates will demonstrate the ability to design a mechanical system or a thermal system andfamiliar with modern mechanical engineering software tools and equipment to analyze mechanical engineering problems& multidisciplinary projects that meets desired specifications and requirements of the end users.
  • Graduates will be able to implement modern manufacturing practices and newer quality tools enhancing the productivity and contributing to GDP growth.
  • Join a technically sophisticated workforce as successful professionals in a wide spectrum of technical industries.
  • Pursue advanced degrees in engineering, business, or other professional fields by applying written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments.
