The Institution of Engineers India (IEI) is the national organization of engineers
in India and was established in 1920 in Madras. It was formally inaugurated in 1921
by Lord Chelmsford, the then- Viceroy of British India. In 1935, IEI obtained the
Royal Charter of Incorporation from King George V to promote and advance the science,
practice and business of engineering. It has more than one million members in its
various engineering disciplines across more than 125 centers and chapters located
in India and around the world. It is the world's largest multi-disciplinary engineering
professional society in the world, and acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education
in engineering. It also provides financial support to R&D project in various Engineering
disciplines.
A students’ chapter may provide a learned workshop for the development of socio-techno
intellectual qualities of the members as well as for encouraging their urge and
surge for knowledge in a disciplined and guided system.
The Department of Electrical Engineering of Shroff S.R. Rotary Institute of Chemical
Technology, Vataria has started Students’ Chapter of The Institution of Engineers
(India). More than 80 studentshave enrolled till date in the chapter. On 26th November
2016, Department got the official certificate and cover letter of the approval from
The Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata Head-Quarters SRICT Students’ Chapter
(Electrical) was inaugurated on 15th December 2016. The program was attended by
Chief Guest Mr. A B. Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Electrical Inspector, Vadodara. Guest
of Honor Mr. Mukund Master, Hon. Secretary, IEI, SGLC, Surat, Mr. Bhaskar Bhatt
Hon. Joint Secretary, IEI, SGLC, Surat, Mr. H S Shah, Assistant Electrical Inspector,
Bharuch, Mr. D. A. Patel, Member, IEI, SGLC, Surat, Dr. Shrikant J. Wagh, Principal,
SRICT, Mr. Praful P. Chudasama, HOD, DEE and Speaker Er. S M Takalkar, Director,
TPEC, Vadodara.
The program was successfully organized and coordinated by Electrical Engineering
Department of SRICT with the full support of Ankleshwar Rotary Education Society
(ARES) Management From the inception of the SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical),
under the banner several technical and non-technical events are organized till date.
Students from different department and organizations actively participated in the
event to make it success.
The Chapter keeps organizing different events, lectures, workshops and competitions
to keep students involved and thus motivates them to bring best in their abilities.
- A poster Presentation competition was organized by SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical)
on 15/12/2016. As 14th December, 2016 was “National Energy Conservation Day”, the
overall theme of the whole program was celebrated on Conservation of Energy and
its awareness. The event was made successful with enthusiastic participation of
students (28) from different branches of SRICT.
- An expert talk was delivered by Mr. S M Takalkar on the topic “Energy Conservation
and its benefits to Industry” at SRICT Campus on 15/12/2016. He shared his knowledge
and expertise and enlightened everyone present in the event.
- A Quiz competition was organized by SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical) on 23/01/2017.
The event was made successful with enthusiastic participation of students (27 groups)
from different branches of SRICT. The best performed students were appreciated by
the prize and were motivated to do well.
- A High Voltage workshop was organized by SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical) on
18/02/2017 at SRICT campus. More than 20 Students and 2 faculties from different
colleges participated in the event. The event was well coordinated by Department
of Electrical Engineering, SRICT. The best performed students were appreciated by
the prize and were motivated to do well.
- To promote safety culture in Industrial working, National Safety Day (NSD) is being
celebrated all over India every year on 4th March and National Safety Week during
4th to 11th March. Department of Electrical Engineering, SRICT and The Institution
of Engineers (India) SRICT Students' Chapter (Electrical) jointly organized an event
at SRICT campus on 4th March 2017 to celebrate "National Safety Day". The program
was addressed by Dharwadkar sir followed by "Health & Safety Pledge" taken by faculties
and students of Department of Electrical Engineering, SRICT.
- The Department of Electrical Engineering of SRICT had organized an Introductory
Lecture on “Awareness about The Institution of Engineers’ (India) Students’ Chapter”
for the EE students on 08th April 2017. Lecture was delivered by Mr. Manish Mishra,
Assistant Professor, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, SRICT, Ankleshwar.
- Dr. K. N. Mistry visited the campus of SRICT and motivated the committee about their
effort. He also appreciated the efforts of the chapter and its members for the better
work and team efforts.
- SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical) has organized 20 expert lectures till date.
Chapter is also planning to organize few better STTPS/Workshops/Competition/EL/IVs
in future for better development of the students. More students are enthusiastically
getting enrolled in the Chapter. Till date more than 160 students have been enrolled.
Students are actively participating in all the events of the chapter and thus gaining
full benefit of the events organized
- SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical) has successfully organized 2 industrial visits.
Chapter is also planning to organize more industrial visits in future for better
development and technical growth of the students.
- The Department of Electrical Engineering and The Institution of Engineers (India)
SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical) had organized a two days state level workshop
on “Practical Realization of Power System Protection” on 26th &
27th February 2018. Approximately 140 students & faculty members were participated
in the workshop
- The Department of Electrical Engineering and The Institution of Engineers (India)
SRICT Students’ Chapter (Electrical) had organized a lecture series “ILLUMINATI
2018” under which 7 Expert Lectures and career counselling have been
organized in different colleges by the faculties of the department.
